Author & Illustrator Bios:

Author: Hannah Purdy Budic grew up in Berea, Ohio and attended Baldwin-Wallace College where she earned he B.A. in English. She met her husband, Tim, in college and they currently live in Berea, OH, with their son, TJ.

Book Dedication:

For my incredible husband, Tim, whom I love more than life... thank you for being my best friend and my biggest fan. And for TJ, my son, who is an extension of my heart. Thank you for making me a Mommy!

Illustrator: Melissa M Rosendahl is thrilled to have helped Ebenezer and his friends come to life! She first learned to paint when she was very little with water, a brush, and a dry sidewalk. This gift was developed over the years at St. Mary’s in Sandusky, Ohio, The University of Dayton where Melissa received her Bachelor of Fine Arts, and American Greetings where she’s been designing cards for 8 years. She is now living out her dreams in Cleveland, Ohio with her husband, son and daughter!

Hello Friends! It's been awhile since the last newsletter - I hope this finds you well!

I'm very proud to announce Ebenezer Flea's newly redesigned website! The brains behind Mousetrap Marketing have created a new look and layout for the EB Flea site! Please take a moment to check it out and let me know what you think. The new site includes new features like the coloring page of Ebenezer & Friends. Feel free to download it and do some stress-free coloring!

Also, with springtime just around the corner, we're looking at some fun upcoming dates for programs. Parknoll Elementary School and Smith Elementary School will be hosting an EB Flea event in their auditoriums next month. I'll send updates and pictures afterward to show you the fun we had!

If you're a parent, teacher or fan of Ebenezer and you'd like to discuss a library, hospital or school program, please let me know. I'd love to talk with you about it! Ebenezer's illustrator, Melissa Rosendahl, is often available to come as well. I'll work with you to plan an event that fits what you want!

What does the typical EB Flea program look like? I usually do a reading, question & answer period, an interview by the students and a discussion about why character in life is important. If time and planning allows, I often do a writing workshop for the older kids and a coloring project while talking about feelings with the younger ones.

Lastly, I have a limited amount of special edition hardcover books on hand, so let me know if you're interested in purchasing one!

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

We’re hoping you’re all preparing for a great Christmas and pray that December is treating you well. I have a few updates for you in “Ebenezer News”.

First, I’m very happy to report that Ebenezer is in Africa!!! Lori Michalik, a very incredible friend of mine and Tim’s, went to a village near Tanzania in Africa this summer to help with financing new hospital facilities and to work with the women and children. I was thrilled and honored when she called to see if she could bring Ebenezer with her. I excitedly agreed and immediately pictured her reading to the children. Doesn’t that put a smile on your face?

Ebenezer has been in Africa for a few months now and I believe many return trips are in store. Lori Michalik, President LSI International Development and LSI, Lender Services L.L.C. documented her journey through pictures and is a true inspiration. She has begun CID, Consider It Done, of which she is President. Look for more updates on Consider it Done and the new work that will be done in Africa!

Secondly, I have several engagements booked for this spring at elementary schools (including Avon Lake and Brook Park) and at a few Barnes and Noble stores. Check the website for a complete listing after the first of the year.

Also, just in case you’re looking for the perfect gift for those sweet kiddos on your shopping list…Ebenezer will come to your rescue! Hello Everyone!

First of all, I hope this newsletter finds you all doing well! We’re excited to update you on a few exciting things in store for Ebenezer Flea and his friends. Ebenezer Flea and the Right Thing to Do was featured in a blog on our church’s website last month. I had a meeting with one of the children’s ministry coordinators at Church at Charlotte and they wanted to help get the word out about the book. You can read the article here. They plan to incorporate the book into future lessons in children’s ministry later this summer or early fall. How cool

Secondly, Baldwin-Wallace College, Tim’s and my alma mater, is featuring me (as well as two other B-W graduates) in an upcoming article in the Pursuit about new authors. I haven’t seen the article yet, but I’m excited to get my copy of the alumni newsletter to check it out. I’m excited to report that the B-W bookstore will soon be carrying the book as well. Thanks, B-dub!

Ebenezer Flea has officially been added to several libraries in Ohio and two here in Charlotte. Ebenezer has also made his way all the way out to the West Coast! Thanks to some connections my Mother-in-Law, Michele, has through the Willoughby Public Library, Ebenezer Flea can be checked out by kids in California. Woohoo!

And finally, the second Ebenezer Flea story is currently being sent out to a few publishers in hopes of catching their interest. Keep your fingers crossed!

Thanks for sending me pictures of your kids and dogs reading Ebenezer Flea. We’re still in the process of adding more, so keep ‘em coming! Your support means so very much to us. A special thanks goes out to Mr. Dotson and his class for reading Ebenezer to other elementary school students…to Julius the Beagle for sporting his flashy Ebenezer Flea t-shirt all over Colorado Springs…as well as the students and Principal (my Dad!) at St. Paul Lutheran School for having me visit and listening to me read. The ladies in the library were pretty cool too. (Thanks Mom!)
